Impetus3 Principles. Multiple voices as data.
First, we seek to understand your needs. Selecting a consultant may involve facilitating an informative, engaging or fun experience of critical thinking to initially surface change ideas, garner management alignment or an operational outline of how you execute on a strategic plan.
Our Principles:
- Business is Personal. This critically informs our methods and drives us to collect multiple voices as data.
- For people to adapt to change, they must be part of creating it.
- Information overload is real and momentum sapping. Keep frames simple. Codify how work/decisions happen.
- Belief in the pareto principle that to find and focus on the 20% of effort can impact 80% we map, model, debate.
- Customers define value. Listen, understand and then produce.
If what we do and the principles in our approach align well to your ask. Go to our contact page.
Every Transformation Follows 5 Pathways …
We map, measure and visualize nearly everything.
What steps are involved in change?
Impetus3 Transformation Framework (left) illustrates an organizational change journey that follows five (5) pathways. Depending on where you are is where we begin. We ‘double click’ into the detail depending on your strategic intent, key topics, key decisions to be made and actions to take.
Where you are is where we begin.
With 10,000 hours deep diving these pathways with clients, our method expertise is solid, ensuring energy is spent on you: Creatively facilitating, gathering, observing then sorting those things of strategic value, accelerating execution.
Our Think. Know. Prove™ proprietary critical thinking approach quickly integrates experience-based input with performance facts as data, then narrows in on themes of shared ‘know’ or ‘knowledge’ everyone acts on.

Client Challenge: Strategic Plan Execution with Business Process design and implementation
Mel supported us through two key projects to drive transformation on this site.
Before Mel started working with us, these projects had both stalled. Under Mel’s leadership and method, we were able to reinvigorate the project and accelerate
them!
The teams became engaged and stepped up to drive the process, leading us to a better conclusion and safer production than outlined as part of the project. Mel
was able to break down the silos across the site and with suppliers to optimise the process from design to daily on the ground activity.
Melanie, with Patrick, Paul and later Natalia and Chris as a third project came online to run 3-month transformation sprints for each process/project.
Melanie was previously onsite working directly with supervisors and team crews to implement daily huddle boards (visual management for Lean problem solving).
She travelled for bi-weekly 7 day runs, living in the mine camp 2021-2023 and remote support with the team.

“I had the opportunity to work with Melanie on a number of mandates during the transformation of our Finance function, which required a huge amount of change management within the organization.
Melanie was an incredible source of knowledge and support throughout the change management process. She has a deep understanding of both the people side and the process side and was able to facilitate exercises which were bespoke to our organization and team. She took the time to really listen to the issues and facilitate initiatives that were tailored made for us — making sure that everyone was heard.
She was fantastic and our deliverables were solid. I would work with her anytime, anywhere!”

Client Challenge: Strategic Plan then pilot change, train and engage others in detailed design of the new process excellence and culture shift
Melanie’s teaching and facilitation helped propel my team forward, and her tools and guidance have also helped me develop as a leader. She supported our cross-functional teams to work more effectively by mapping what we do and how those outputs ‘stream’ together.
We were encouraged to participate in sessions aimed at understanding our personal situation, culture and values in the context of shared work and operational excellence. That time has helped me consistently look at the big picture and has been integral to helping our team consider new, sometimes unpopular, ideas going forward. We “crowdsource our critical thinking”. Thanks Melanie and Think Know Prove.

Client Challenge: Strategic Planning with extensive stakeholder engagement/ data gathering
Melanie’s ability to translate the conceptual into the tangible was hugely valuable to our strategic planning process. She is adept at engaging a diverse set of stakeholders, gathering critical input from underrepresented voices. Melanie uses accessible language and has a no-nonsense approach that drives results.
The e-based technology (Mura, Zoom Teams, Polls, Mapping themes) was really engaging and complemented Melanie’s facilitation approach to draw out the staff voice.
The extensive engagement undertaken to co-create this strategy enabled us to reimagine the next chapter of our organization. This inclusive approach has led to a plan that reflects the ambition, compassion and hopefulness that emanates from this organization.
Impetus methods: A systemized approach. Tools and methods to foster staff engagement were very effective and yielded a response to drive results. This led to a sustaining year.
The team from Impetus (Melanie and her associates), Invictus Analytics & Strategy (Josh with his team) and Dr. Bob Bell supported this work.
Melanie came back three years later (2024) with some of the same people that were there in the validation workshops or forums.

Client Challenge: Strategic Plan Execution with Business process review and design facilitation with leaders
You told me that you didn’t want to put together powerpoint decks that would sit on a shelf, but help me implement the organizational transformation required. You delivered on that commitment.
You listened to my vision but had the integrity to push back when you thought that what I asked for wasn’t going to accomplish what we needed.
You spent a great deal of time with my direct reports and my broader team, coaching them, and adjusting our approach based on their feedback.
Your suggestion to set up a “change champions” group changed the game. This group was my voice on the “floor”, telling me what was going on and where I and my leadership team could do better. I kept that group going beyond the transformation, and I have suggested it to other leaders.
